Penobscot Double Runs: Maximum Adrenaline through Class V Gorge

What's the Difference Between the Upper and Lower Sections of the Penobscot River?
- Upper Penobscot Gorge Section: ages 15 and up (2.5 miles)
- Lower Penobscot Section: ages 12 and up (11.5 miles)
The Penobscot Outdoor Center
Located on spectacular Pockwockamus Pond, The Penobscot Outdoor Center sits under the shadow of mile high Mount Katahdin. Just two miles from the south entrance to Baxter State Park and some of the best day hikes in the East, the Center provides cabin tent and camping accommodations to our guests on the Penobscot River. Guests enjoy the Katahdin Grill restaurant complete with a licensed bar, along with a hot tub, and entertainment area.
