May 2012

5th OPENING DAY KENNEBEC RAFTING SEASON: 
First day of guided rafting trips on this classic Maine River.
Springtime runoff and smaller crowds make opening day a great time to raft the Kennebec with Northern Outdoors.

12th SCHEDULED RELEASE ON THE DEAD RIVER: FIRST RELEASE
The first of 9 dam releases on the Dead River this season. Spring runoff will have the river flowing at an amazing 7,000 cubic feet per second. Reserve a spot early, as these popular trips fill up fast. This water level is for aggressive participants!

12th WORLD CLASS BASS FISHING OPENS:
Guided smallmouth bass fishing tours with Northern Outdoors are available starting today. Field and Stream magazine reports that the Upper Kennebec is on the verge of becoming the hottest smallmouth fishery in the Northeast! Or Try fishing for Landlocked Salmon and
Brook Trout on our cataraft fishing trip through the
Kennebec River Gorge.

26-28st MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. THE FIRST TRIPLE CROWN WEEKEND OF THE SEASON.

26th PENOBSCOT RIVER SEASON OPENER
Opening weekend for guided whitewater rafting tours on
the beautiful, remote, and turbulent Penobscot river.
Huge class V rapids and panoramic views of Mt. Katahdin await!

27th SPRING RAFT 'N BREWS
Calling all Beer Lovers! Raft the Dead River at the "Wicked Fun" level of 5500CFS, then return to The Forks Resort Center main lodge for a cookout, Kennebec River
brewery tours, $3 pints on the 27th, and live entertainment during Spring Raft 'n Brews.

High water rafting on the Dead always provides unparalleled action. Turbulent rapids and rollercoaster waves create one of the most exciting whitewater experiences in New England in this 5,500 cubic foot per second dam release.

9th SCHEDULED RELEASE ON THE DEAD RIVER
Rafting on the Dead always provides unparalleled action. Turbulent rapids and rollercoaster waves create one of the most exciting whitewater experiences in New England. Today's scheduled release is 3,500CFS. If you've never rafted the Dead River and want to try it at a less intimidating level, today is your day.

11th KIDS' RAFT HALF PRICE MIDWEEK SPECIAL:
Starting June 11th, children age 8 to 15 can raft the Kennebec for 1/2 price Monday through Friday and kids aged 15 to 18 can raft the Penobscot for 1/2 price Monday through Friday. Offer is good through August 31st and is a great way to get out and experience the beauty of Maine with the kids, at a reduced price.

16th MAXIMUM MAGIC: 1ST KENNEBEC HIGH WATER RELEASE!
Join us for this first of four special dam releases as the Kennebec will be flowing at nearly DOUBLE its normal volume. This is an aggressive, high adventure trip and only those with a “go for it” attitude should apply. In the evening listen to live music from one of western Maine's most popular local bands.

17th FATHER’S DAY:
Dad's Raft for FREE on Father's Day (1 dad per full paying guest). Spend quality time in the outdoors with your dad. There's nothing better than some father and son rafting to bring you closer together all topped of with handcrafted beers and hearty food at The Kennebec River Pub & Brewery.

8th MAXXIMUM MAGIC: 3RD KENNEBEC HIGH WATER RELEASE!
Perfect for true adventure seekers, this special dam
release will get the Kennebec River running at DOUBLE
its normal volume. Big waves and huge rapids are sure
to get the adrenaline pumping.

15th SCHEDULED RELEASE ON THE DEAD RIVER:
Flowing at 3,500 cubic feet per second, the Dead is sure to give a memorable whitewater experience.

22nd MAXXIMUM MAGIC: FINAL KENNEBEC HIGH WATER RELEASE
This will be the final Maximum Magic dam release of the 2011 whitewater season. Make reservations early for this special, high adventure trip. The Kennebec will be running at nearly DOUBLE its normal volume, so grab a paddle and hold on tight!

6th  SCHEDULED RELEASE ON THE DEAD RIVER: FINAL CHANCE TO RUN THE DEAD!
Today marks the last dam release on the Dead River for the 2012 season. Set against a backdrop of brilliant fall foliage and flowing at up to 6000 cubic feet per second, this trip is sure to be one of the most spectacular of the season!

6th OCTOBERFEST FALL RAFT 'N BREWS
Enjoy the final weekend of Dead River rafting Octoberfest-style during our Fall Raft 'n Brews with the Kennebec River Brewery hosting brewery tours, beer-tastings, $3 pints all day and live entertainment. Raft the Dead River at 600CFS!

6th-8th FINAL WEEKEND OF RAFTING FOR THE 2012 SEASON
Spend Columbus Weekend on the river and join the guides as we celebrate the final trip of the year.
