Weekly Report, Week of October 16th, 2023:

You can see from the photo that we’re definitely past peak– but it’s worth noting, there are still trees hanging on to green leaves! The drive along Route 201 between Bingham and The Forks is lined with yellow foliage, as the trees along the river always seem to have a delayed color change. Regardless of the status, it’s a beautiful time of year to explore outdoors- and there’s still plenty to do! ATV trails for our area are open through the end of October, so you can rent a trailside cabin and trailer up. Or, take a road trip along Route 201, a National Scenic Byway, to visit the lodge and stay for a few nights. Make it a brewery road trip — check out the recommended Kennebec Valley Beer Trail to find some delicious food and great beer in our neck of the woods! Our favorite stop on the list is Kennebec River Pub & Brewery of course 😉 While you’re here, take a moment to explore Moxie Falls or Mosquito Mountain (picture below). If you’re hanging in the woods, be sure to wear your hunters orange — it’s bird hunting season currently, with deer hunting beginning at the end of October!
