18 Jun 12 Wild Times on the Kennebec River
My first experience with Northern Outdoors was a memorable one and I plan to come back in the future. I was with a bachelor party group of 12 staying at the Point House cabin for the weekend of 6/8-6/10.
I guess in my mind I had imagined that we’d be staying in a dank bunkhouse that was rustic and not filled with modern amenities and comforts. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the house was beautiful inside with a full kitchen, deck with grill outside, ample beds and bathrooms, and to top it off it was directly overlooking the water. We had firewood to burn at night in a pit and it provided the perfect home base for a bachelor party weekend.
3 miles down the road from our cabin was the Kennebec Brewery and Pub. This place had great pub food and their house beers were excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed the refreshing Whitewater Wheat Ale as well as the unique Black Lager.
As a first-time white water rafter I was a little intimidated to be hitting class 3/4 rapids, especially at 7:45 am following a long night of bachelor party “festivities”. Tour guides Mary and Emily took any and all doubt from my mind. Their attitude, confidence, and senses of humor were infectious. If all of your tour guides are as great as them you truly have a good thing going there. Awesome experience.
