January 31, 2009 OUTDOORS: Keeping trails pristine and practical is an around-the-clock job, By Travis Barrett,  Kennebec Journal & Morning Sentinel

THE FORKS -- I'm told they refer to him as "The Iceman" when he's not around, which gets a chuckle out of those gathered at the bar on a cold winter evening.
I find the nickname for Jim Yearwood, the vice president of the adventure tourism spot Northern Outdoors, to be something of a misnomer. He was given the moniker because he's about as plain-dealing as they come, not given to verbosity or garrulousness. But, really, Yearwood would be better known as "The Snowman," just not in a magic-hat-Frosty kind of way. Read the full story on Northern's  Snowmobiling TrailMaster, Jim Yearwood.

June 1, 2008 "Smaller Boat, Bigger Thrills" Men's Journal, by Christopher Percy Collier

The last couple of seasons have seen an explosion in so-called "sport rafts", and there's little mystery as to why. These smaller craft (14 feet long, usually with room for two to six guests) offer a wilder ride. Rapids that would be absorbed by a big boat's massive tubes bounce you about like a...  Read the full story

May 31, 2008 "OUTDOORS: There's nothing quite like fishing for smallies on
upper Kennebec", The Kennebec Journal, by Travis Barrett

THE FORKS -- Most of the time I spend looking around in wonder, hardly believing that this is the Kennebec River....But the Kennebec River, which sprawls across Maine's midsection --from Moosehead Lake to Popham Beach -- is more than just the former home of a "Whatever Race" for paddlers. In its northern reaches, it's home to some fantastic smallmouth bass fishing.I was more than happy to find that out firsthand this week.Chris Russell grew up in Gardiner and now, as a four-seasons guide at Northern Outdoors in The Forks, makes his home in Caratunk. Over the years I've been to Portland on work assignments; however, I've never seen much of Maine. For years several close friends here in Chicago have strongly recommended we take a family vacation to your state. Further, they insisted that we connect with Northern Outdoors and try river rafting. This summer was our first vacation to ME and we all enjoyed it! I'm blessed with three bosses (Wife and Two Daughters/ Ages 10 and 13) and struggle to find activities that everyone enjoys. Your river trip tops the list of all time family best activities.
Pete M -Chicago, IL

It is evident that your staff really enjoys their work and take great pride in going that extra mile. We were blown away by how much fun we had, and how professionally and smoothly it was delivered.
Tom F - Biddeford, ME
