Kennebec River Float Trips

Float Down Maine’s Most Popular Whitewater River

Spend a delightful afternoon on a self-guided float down the gentle, rippling Lower Kennebec River. Ages as young as 8 and as old as 80 can paddle their own inflatable kayak for a fun and relaxing afternoon. You start at the end, (called the take-out) of the main Kennebec River whitewater rafting trip, well past the rapids of the upper and lower sections. Here, the river meanders at a much slower pace, ideal for those who want to drift carefree with their friends or splash around with the family in easy-to-paddle inflatable kayaks. No experience necessary.

With easy class 1-2 rapids (riffles and small waves), this laid-back float puts you in the heart of inland Maine. Enjoy forest views and chances to see eagles along your trip. Relax, chill out and unwind as you sunbathe, paddle or swim–you’re the boss of your self-guided trip. You won’t even need a shuttle after your paddle–you’ll end up right across from the Northern Outdoors Adventure Resort with its giant outdoor hot tub, swimming pool, cabins and brewpub!

We had the perfect combination of exciting rapids and calm floating on the river and even stopped to see a gorgeous waterfall.
