Scenic Flights in Maine

See western Maine the way the eagles do — from above. Wings, Woods & Waters offers scenic floatplane tours departing from Parlin Pond, soaring over remote wilderness, shimmering lakes, and river valleys that most visitors never see. No experience necessary. Just bring your camera and your sense of wonder.

Scenic Floatplane Tours with Wings, Woods & Waters

Northern Outdoors has teamed up with Wings, Woods & Waters to bring guests a completely new way to experience the western Maine wilderness. Departing from Parlin Lodge — about 20 minutes north of Northern Outdoors on Route 201 — these floatplane tours offer a bird’s-eye view of the landscape you’ve been exploring on the ground. Pilots Thomas Coleman and Peyton Veilleux fly a Maule floatplane, boarding directly from the beach or dock at Parlin Pond. Flights can sweep toward Moosehead Lake, Flagstaff Lake, or the Kennebec River valley — each route showcasing a different slice of Maine’s most spectacular backcountry. Groups of up to three can fly together, and wildlife sightings along the way are always a possibility.

Your Flight Experience

Your adventure begins at Parlin Lodge, where you’ll meet your Wings, Woods & Waters pilot and review a short waiver before boarding. All flights launch from the water — stepping off the beach or dock and into the floatplane is an experience all its own. Once airborne, the western Maine wilderness opens up beneath you: a patchwork of lakes, ponds, river bends, and unbroken forest stretching to the horizon. Depending on your route, you might spot moose in the shallows, osprey riding the thermals, or remote sporting camps tucked into the trees far below. For the ultimate experience, the Sunset Tour takes flight once per day, trading midday brightness for golden-hour light across the water and the long shadows of a Maine evening. Bring a camera — you’ll want it.
