The Kennebec River Gorge in The Forks, Maine is well-known for its exciting Class IV whitewater rapids and rafting trips. In fact, when the dam is not releasing those big water flows, the Upper Kennebec Gorge becomes a pristine Maine stream and fly fishing haven for Brook Trout and Salmon. It has a hidden gem of a fishery located deep in its bedrock canyon. Hold on, because at some point the water will rise and you and your fishing-turned-whitewater guide will get an exciting raft ride home.

Well known for its exciting class 4 whitewater rapids, the Upper Kennebec Gorge is also a hidden gem for incredible fly fishing in the depths of the gorge walls. Our fishing guides (who are also registered Maine whitewater rafting guides) will take you through the river gorge at fish flow, prior to the release for whitewater rafting, for prime brook trout and salmon fishing.
While rowing our Hog Island Boat Works drift boat, our Registered Maine Guides provide river knowledge and excellent boat handling to get you into the right position. This is a perfect way to gain confidence in a variety of fly fishing techniques. We offer several options for your day; each trip includes beverages and snacks, a Registered Maine Guide and all the equipment you need for a great day of fly fishing.
We had an amazing weekend fly-fishing with Mike Pilsbury (who was incredible!) and camping at Lot 21. We caught a couple nice fish and really enjoyed our day on the water. We relaxed in the evening with a few beers and watching the Bruins at the lodge. All-in-all, it was a terrific weekend and we cannot wait to come back!! Thank you Northern Outdoors and Mike Pilsbury!!
