Seasonal Openings - Summer2024

Registered Maine Whitewater Rafting Guide

Northern Outdoors runs a Guide Training Program in May where you can learn the skills and techniques to navigate three of the top whitewater rivers in the USA.

  • The 2024 dates for the Kennebec River guide training: Sunday, May 19th – Sunday, May 26th.

  • The 2024 dates for the Penobscot River guide training: End of June 2024, exact dates TBD.

  • Applications should be received no later than April 15th, 2024.

  • The cost of the program is $300 ($400 if you need first aid and CPR certification).

Great summer job for teachers, college students, or anyone looking for a career in the hospitality or adventure tourism industry. Rafting season is May to October. Full and part time opportunities. Must be 21 years of age.

Bus Driver

Seeking mature, responsible and hard working individuals to join our team as full and/or part time seasonal bus drivers! Typical day is 7am-3pm, and season is May – October with some flexibility for start/end dates depending on your availability. Apply at link below!

Job Requirements:

  • 21 or older
  • Clean driving record
  • Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a P or SCHOOL BUS endorsement.

Pay: $17/hour

Video Kayaker

Must be comfortable and capable in Class IV-V whitewater. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves to paddle! Accompany our daily rafting adventures, shoot raw footage, edit and score. A great personality and an imaginative mind are essential. Technical knowledge of video equipment would help, but we can easily train the right person. Competitive pay is available, depending on experience. 21 or older. Positions run from late April to early October. Combine a season video boating with time on the river guiding, for a great summer on Maine’s whitewater rivers.

Reservations & Guest Services

Join our small office and reservations team assisting guests to plan and book their vacation stay at Northern Outdoors.  Position includes front desk and retail sales functions in a busy and sometimes very fast paced lodge environment. This position is detail oriented with a strong focus on sales and customer service. Qualified applicant will have a positive attitude, effective communication skills, an ability to multi-task, be team-oriented, and willing to work a flexible schedule (days/nights & weekends). Job also involves going up/down stairs, walking, standing (possibly for prolonged periods of time) and being able to lift up to 30 lbs. Previous phone, customer service and computer skills are extremely helpful. Employee discounts plus competitive pay commensurate with experience.
