Jobs at Northern Outdoors

We are seeking personable, competent, and energetic individuals with strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to join the Northern Outdoors team at our Resort Center in The Forks, Maine. Bus Driver

Full and part-time positions available for drivers for our various adventures. Seeking mature, responsible and hard working individuals. Must be 21 and have a clean driving record. Must have a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a P or SCHOOL BUS endorsement. Good physical shape is needed as these positions involve some moderately heavy lifting and carrying. Starting pay is $16 / hr. This is a great summer job for a school bus driver!

The Kennebec River Pub and Brewery

Several year-round and seasonal positions are available in our high volume restaurant and brewpub at The Forks Adventure Resort. We are currently accepting applications for back of house positions and front of house positions for the upcoming season: Line cooks, servers, day bartenders, and dishwashers. Pay is based on position and experience.

Registered Maine Whitewater Rafting Guide

Northern Outdoors runs a Guide Training Program in early May where you can learn the skills and techniques to navigate three of the top whitewater rivers in the USA.

  • The 2023 dates for the Kennebec River guide training: Sunday, May 21st – Sunday, May 28th.

  • The 2023 dates for the Penobscot River guide training: End of June 2022, exact dates TBD.

  • Applications should be received no later than April 15th, 2023.

  • The cost of the program is $300 ($400 if you need first aid and CPR certification).

Great summer job for teachers, college students, or anyone looking for a career in the hospitality or adventure tourism industry. Rafting season is May to October. Full and part time opportunities. Must be 21 years of age. For more information read:

Video Kayaker

Must be comfortable and capable in Class IV-V whitewater. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves to paddle! Accompany our daily rafting adventures, shoot raw footage, edit and score. A great personality and an imaginative mind are essential. Technical knowledge of video equipment would help, but we can easily train the right person. Competitive pay is available, depending on experience. 21 or older. Positions run from late April to early October. Combine a season video boating with time on the river guiding, for a great summer on Maine’s whitewater rivers.
