Your home for experiencing Maine’s best adventure vacations is the Northern Outdoors Adventure Resort, located in western Maine’s extraordinary wilderness playground – The Forks. Play in our backyard of wild woods, rivers, and lakes and return to the comforts of our base lodge for refreshment, rest, and more fun.
Our adventure resort includes a cozy main lodge, full-service restaurant and the popular Kennebec River Brewery. Enjoy the largest assortment of 1 – 4+ bedroom private cabins in The Forks, a riverside campground, swimming pool, giant outdoor hot tub, game areas, free wifi and much more. You also get backyard access to Maine’s best whitewater rivers and extensive trails for hiking, snowmobiling, and ATVs.
All the action is centered right at our main lodge. It’s home to the reservations office, lodging and rafting check-in, Kennebec and Dead River rafting trips, and fishing trips. The timber frame lodge is a grand, spacious building great for weddings, family reunions, college reunions, company parties, and other group events! Outdoor activity is sure to work up your appetite and thirst – for a wonderfully carefree stay leave the cooking (and cleanup!) to our full-service restaurant and brewery. Thanks to our great handcrafted brews, we’re a featured stop on the Maine Beer Trail so whether visiting for a day or staying for a week, be sure to make the KRB part of your recreation plans.
We offer a variety of accommodations to suit many different levels of comfort. Rest as close to the outdoors as you can at our Kennebec River Campground (complete with sounds of the nearby river). Or enjoy the forest from the comforts of a bed in one of our Cozy Cabins, Condos, or Lodgominiums – some with kitchen options for a truly secluded respite. Our Lodge Rooms keep you closer to the festivities of the brewery which is right downstairs from your room.
Maine river rafting is our primary adventure specialty. Our expert guides know the rivers (we offer trips May to October on the Kennebec River, the Dead River, and the Penobscot River) and can help make your trip as thrilling (check out Kennebec Turbine Test Trips) or as mellow (Kennebec Float Trips are relaxing water fun) as you’d like. Gather a group of friends or family and start a tradition that’s sure to result in many great memories.
Surrounded by beautiful Maine forests, rivers, and lakes there are plenty of options for other outdoor adventures on days you’re not rafting: lake kayaking, fishing, fly fishing, hiking, ATV trails, hunting. We offer rentals or guide services for most of the above making your next adventure more accessible than ever.
For a more remote experience, check out our Katahdin Adventure Base Camp three hours northeast located on the Penobscot River, at the edge of Baxter State Park, and on the Appalachian Trail. Our Katahdin camping is 19 miles north of Millinocket on the Golden Road.
Katahdin’s rugged wilderness abounds with hiking and fishing, Penobscot River white water rafting, and breathtaking scenery. Come prepared to unplug and unwind… and maybe hike up Maine’s Greatest Mountain.
