Brook Trout in Maine’s Remote Ponds

Maine Trout Fishing

This is the trout fishing Maine is famous for! Fishing from a canoe, row boat, or float tube we’ll arrive before dusk to prepare for the evening hatches. Anglers booking trips in late June and early July can expect the infamous Green Drake or Hex Hatch, a sure must-see experience for any serious fly angler.
  • These trips depart at approximately 4:30pm and may require hikes of up to 1 mile.
  • Cost: $175 for one, $275 for two.
  • Book this as an add-on to any other day fishing trip $125 for one, $1 50 for two

East Outlet Drift Boat Trip

Maine Fishing - Northern Outdoors Draining Moosehead Lake, the East Outlet has cold water all season and the fishing to show for it. Landlocked Salmon and Brook Trout along with Class I-III rapids provide the challenge for this postcard day on this beautiful remote river. Our river guides provide local knowledge and excellent boat handling to get you into the perfect lie. This is a perfect river to gain confidence and perfect your nymph fishing techniques.
  • Cost $350 for one angler, $400 for two.

Roach River Wading Trip

Wading Fishing Trips - Maine Our head fishing guide's personal favorite, this small river has a little of everything and is a joy to wade. Cascading whitewater, deep pools, long riffles and best of all, big, healthy fish. This is thanks to a longstanding Catch and Release Only policy on the river. Most years we see the biggest fish landed come from the Roach, but that doesn’t ever mean it’s easy.
  • Cost $350 for one angler, $400 for two.

Extreme Fly Fishing in Maine

Upper Kennebec River Gorge

This remote section of river is our guide’s little secret. Undoubtedly known for its raging Class IV rapids providing wild whitewater rafting, the Upper Kennebec Gorge isn’t the most likely place to think about a pristine Maine stream and fly fishing for brook trout and salmon. However, when the dam owners are not releasing water through the turbines, this section of river resembles a small stream and has a hidden gem of a fishery located deep in the bedrock of canyon. We’ll arrive at Harris Station at first light and slip down the river in our raft and fish pool to pool for some of the most remote Brook Trout and Landlocked Salmon fishing in Maine. Hold on, because at some point in the morning the water will rise and you and your fishing-turned whitewater guide will get an exciting raft ride home. Due to the physical nature of this trip, we recommend it to those healthy, active, adventurous types.
  • This is an early morning trip and will be complete around noon.
  • Cost $ 495 for one or two people
  • We Supply: Professional Registered Maine Fishing and Whitewater Guide with over 20 years of whitewater experience, self-bailing raft, all safety equipment, lifejacket, transportation, and lunch.
  • You supply: Fly Rod and gear, (4-6 Weight with Floating and Sink Tip Lines), Chest Waders with waist belt, Felt boots, Maine Fishing License
  • With the nature of the operations of Harris Station, there are times when the dam owners release water all hours of the day, making this section unfishable. If this happens and we can not fish in the gorge, alternative arrangements will be made. We’ll still get you to some great fishing.

Maine’s Grand Slam Challenge:

Landlocked Salmon, Brook Trout, Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout .

Challenge yourself to catching all four coldwater species on a single fishing trip. While this has been done occasionally in a single day, it’s not easy. Catch all four species on the same fly for the Ultimate Grand Slam. Come at certain times of year and it’s even possible to land a striped bass and even lake trout. A true one-stop challenge for serious fly anglers.
  • We supply: Professional Guides, Local Knowledge, Flies, Transportation, Boat (Jet Drive River Boat, Drift Boat, Fishing Raft, Float Tube and/or Canoe), Hearty Lunch,
  • You supply: Fly Rod and gear, (4-6 Weight with Floating, Sink Tip and Full Sinking Lines), Chest Waders with waist belt, Felt boots, Maine Fishing License
  • 3 day Trip Cost: $995 per person, limit 2
