Kennebec River Brewery Ales & Lagers

Six Custom Ales & Lagers Produced At Our On-site Microbrewery
Our Custom Brews Get Rave Reviews From Guests and Staff Alike
Our fresh beers are handcrafted right at our brewery at Northern Outdoors, and are available on tap at our brewpub in The Forks Resort Center. We launched our microbrewery because several of our staff are microbrew connoisseurs and we had the perfect setting for production. It was a natural fit from the very start.
What's In Our Brews
We work hard to produce the tastiest ales and lagers in the North Woods, right here at Northern Outdoors. Using the finest two-row malted barleys, premium imported and domestic hops, superior yeasts, and pure Kennebec Valley water, we have been handcrafting flavorful ales that tickle the senses and delight the palate since 1997. Our draught beers are "cask-conditioned" and are never filtered or pasteurized. After kegging, they are allowed to condition and carbonate naturally. See how we do it at our glassed-in microbrewery, or come on in, we'll show you around!
Our Custom Ales and Lagers include:
KENNEBEC SUMMER ALE
Dedicated to the spirit of adventure in all of us, we handcraft this provocative ale with the finest North American malted barley, and a liberal dose of premier Northwest hops. The result is a sublime brew of exceptional quaffability that's as refreshing as a ride down the Kennebec River. (Also available May to Sept throughout central Maine in 12 oz 6 packs).
KENNEBEC LOGGER
This lager is brewed with European pilsner malt, German lager yeast and noble Czech Saaz and Tettnang hops. Cold conditioning results in a beer of refreshing quaffability.
BIG MAMA BLUEBERRY ALE
An amber ale named after the biggest wave on the Kennebec River. Natural blueberry flavor is added at kegging for a great fruity aroma! This is a well-carbonated summer favorite with light malt flavor and a nice crisp finish.
RIPOGENUS RED
Dedicated to Ripogenus Gorge, the starting point for our rafting trips on the Penobscot River, this flavorful amber lager is the perfect ending to a day of magnificent rafting. This is an incredibly smooth ale with moderate bitterness up front, which gives way to a delightful malty finish. This deep red ale is brewed with five European malts and three varieties of domestic Northwestern hops.
CLASS V STOUT
Our interpretation of an Irish pub style stout. Dark roasted barley lends a slightly bitter flavor and a tart, dry finish. The exceptionally rich and creamy head is produced by serving it the traditional way……. on nitrogen. Goes down like silk!
MAGIC HOLE I.P.A.
So named for its ability to make rafts disappear, Magic Hole is the Kennebec River's biggest challenge. Dedicated to those with a "GO FOR IT" attitude, this bold, unrepentant ale is liberally hopped with premier East Kent Goldings. (Also available year round throughout central Maine in 12 oz 6 packs, and on draught).Where to Find Kennebec Brewery Beers in Maine
Select Kennebec River Brewery beers are available in 12 ounce six packs at most Hannaford Supermarkets, and convenience stores throughout central Maine.Sustainable Business Practices and Our Brewery
We work hard to incorporate sustainable business practices into our brewery, as much as possible. Here's what we are doing:- All our spent grains are used by a local cattle farmer to feed his cattle.
- The water we use within our sterile, closed container cooling system to cool the warm hops, is re-circulated into our production process. Most breweries simply waste that sterile water by letting it run out after one cooling pass.
