08 Oct Kennebec River Brewery is Featured as Part of Maine Craft Weekend
Part of my personal transition to fall is moving from the lighter, refreshing ales and lagers of summer to the heftier, richer stouts and porters. Now all I need is a beautiful deck, surrounded by autumnal foliage, my handcrafted beer nearby and I’m ready to slide into fall. Fortunately, Maine is a spectacular place to do just that. I bet you didn’t know that Maine ranks fourth in the nation for the number of breweries per capita AND is home to New England’s first microbrewery. If you did, I’m very impressed! Our very own Kennebec River Brewery is a proud member of the Maine Brewers’ Guild and is a featured brewery on the Maine Beer Trail. Both the Maine Brewer’s Guild and the Maine Beer Trail are part of the upcoming Maine Craft Weekend, October 11 and 12, 2014, which takes place over the Columbus Day Holiday weekend.
We’ll be serving up tasty samplings during this last weekend of rafting season from both our staple brews and our seasonal offerings. One sip (or two!) and you’ll discover why our brewery was named one of America’s Coolest Breweries by Travel + Leisure magazine. Want to see inside the Kennebec River Brewery? Take a look at our latest brewery video here.
In addition to craft breweries, you can also visit numerous artisans and craftspeople on self-guided tours throughout Maine of pottery and glass-blowing studios, art galleries, and many others as part of Maine Craft Weekend. Artisans of all sorts and types from around the state are opening their doors to the public for a full weekend of demonstrations, tastings, exhibitions, sales, tours, kids’ projects and other creative and interactive activities. A comprehensive listing by county of your options makes planning your craft exploration easy.
And the excellent timing of Maine Craft Weekend means you’ll also be catching Mother Nature doing gorgeous art herself, with the fall foliage display. You can easily admire her brilliant use of color as you relax on our beautiful deck (the exact one I mentioned earlier) and sip a tasty beer. At Northern Outdoors, we’ll still be rafting on October 11 and 12 so you can get a heck of a good view of fall colors right from the river, too!
