Snowmobile Trail Conditions Report: The Forks, Maine March 2025
The Forks Area Snowmobile Trails Update- March 7th, 2025
Our trails held up better than we expected. We have a varied conditions throughout, but the extra couple of inches of snow at the end of the rain really helped. As far as conditions, expect a mix. There is a lot of water and slush in places, the woods and in town sections are thin but very passable. Pleasant Pond Trail, Bald Mountan Trail and Breakneck Ridge Trail towards Blanchard are in good shape and will be groomed tonight.
We will be grooming all weekend.
ITS 86 We are opening up the black nubble trail as ITS86 tonight, this was the old ITS86 off from the Shirley tote road. This will be a nice fresh trail to ride headed to Greenville/Rockwood. The current ITS86 that takes the Powerlines up the Indian Pond Road connecting to the Dyer Road will also remain open.
ITS 87 in fair to good condition. Recommend the Moxie Loop Side, to be groomed tonight. You can connect over to the Pleasant Pond Trail by utilizing Ron’s Trail south of the Moxie Loop on the left.
Note: Kennebec River Trail is CLOSED.
Still good riding out there this weekend!

The Forks Area Snowmobile Trails Report- March 4th, 2025
With the impending rain and warmup we always ask if you can try and stay off the trails. We understand there are trips going on and people already staying places and backpacking etc so we get it. People asking me is the season going to be over… I highly doubt it. The thin areas will be thinner and it will be icy when things cool down. Make sure you have picks and good carbides. We will evaluate after this break and wait on more snow. There will be great off trail riding. Hero riding as we call it… you will be able to use your short track sled like a long track 🙂 and not worry about getting buried..
We will continue grooming when conditions permit.
Thank you.

The Forks Area Snowmobile Trails Report- February 27th, 2025
After a “TEMP” delay in grooming… get it? Temp? Oh the trail humor… ok the warm weather is not funny.. but we are back!
We sent two groomers out last night and focused heavily at covering bare areas and fixing the rougher sections. The trails held up really well. The woods and in town areas are a bit thinner and yes there are some bare spots especially on wind blown open areas. Use caution as they can come up quick. We are expecting a couple inches today of new snow and more this weekend.
ITS 87 Groomed and in good to great shape.
