Snowmobile Trail Conditions Report - The Forks, Maine

Snowmobile Trail Conditions Report for The Forks, Maine ITS Trail System
Check the NOAA Weather Forecast for The Forks, Maine.
Thursday March, 11th, 2010
There is riding on The Forks Trail System, but springtime conditions exist and you have to pick your spots. Anything in the Kennebec River Valley is not rideable. This would include the intown trails, the 1/2 mile trail down to Northern Outdoors, and the Kennebec River Trail. Most other sections are rideable, but there are some small bare spots just beginning to show in some places. A little zigzagging will get you around these spots. Also, anywhere there was plowed road is down to dirt. This would include a couple miles around Moxie Lake, as well as 1 mile on the Bald Mountain Trail (we will attempt to pull down the snowbank Friday night along most of this Bald Mountain Trail, to keep sleds on snow as best as possible). The Power Line section near Moxie Lake is not rideable. Other than these sections described above, there is enjoyable spring trail riding. Good off trail riding too. Watch for hazards popping up, with the spring conditions.
We will be grooming all groomable sections on Friday night. ITS 86 toward Greenville, ITS 87 toward Bingham, Bald Mountain Trail and Pleasant Pond Trail.
You can access the trail system easily at Pleasant Pond, and off the Shirley Road near Moxie Lake.
