Western Maine is a playground unlike any other. Surrounded byMaine’s North Woods wilderness, you can truly relax and unwind, while still getting your blood pumping with white water rafting on a river or two. Hit some awesome trails on foot, ATV or snowmobile. Plenty of amenities to satisfy your kids (yes, we have a pool), buddies and besties. Heck, you can even grab a handcrafted Maine microbrew and a tasty bite to eat right on site!
So many choices, you’ll need more than a few visits to test them all. Put your feet up in a deluxe cabin and enjoy your private jacuzzi or gather round the fire ring outside your riverside platform tent. Two incredible locations in Maine–each offering accommodations to suit your individual (and group) tastes.
Hold onto your hats for the best white water rafting in New England! Take the ride of your life on one of Maine’s three incredible rivers: the Kennebec, Dead and Penobscot. Whether you’re 8 or 80, a newcomer who wants to float or a river rat ready to rip, there’s a trip for you. Expert guides, gorgeous scenery, astounding wildlife, a tasty grilled lunch, a river and you–an adventure combo that adds up to pure fun.
Northern Outdoors operates white water rafting and other adventures from two locations in Maine. For guests rafting on the Kennebec & Dead Rivers, ATVing, fishing, hunting and snowmobiling, please follow directions to Northern Outdoors Adventure Resort in The Forks.
For guests enjoying Maine white water rafting on the Penobscot River and exploring the Katahdin Region, please follow directions to our base camp at Abol Bridge Campground.
Ah, beer. Nothing quite captures an adventure vacation like a delicious beer. Even better when it’s a handcrafted Maine microbrew. And what about sipping one right after a day on the river or trails? Our brewery is so good, it’s even part of the Maine Beer Trail. Appetizers available and live music on the weekends.
It takes a lot of guts to pioneer Maine white water rafting on not one, but three Maine rivers, the Kennebec, Penobscot and Dead. And how about especially rafting back in 1976 when the Kennebec was still a log run for the paper industry?! But we simply had to be the first explorers to raft it! We still can’t resist the Kennebec or our other rivers and outdoor adventures. We love nothing better than to show you a very, very good time. And we’ve been doing just that for now 40 years!
The rafting, the lodges, the staff, the Lobster bake at the lodge and the music were perfect for our day!!! They staff were very accommodating and added to our celebration!! !
We would go back to Northern Outdoors in a heartbeat and probably lodge there next time. Going there was a real highlight of our trip other than the beautiful Maine country that we were able to look at with the vibrant fall colors.
I would and will recommend Northern Outdoors for years to come, and we will plan another visit as soon as possible.
