What do you enjoy most about working at Northern Outdoors?

I love getting to share my passion for the river with people everyday!

What is your favorite river to guide, and your favorite rapid on that river?
It has to be the Penobscot. There’s nothing better than rafting thrilling class V rapids and 12 ft waterfalls with beautiful views of Maine’s tallest mountain. While it’s hard to choose a favorite rapid on the Nob, I have to go with the Falls. It is a whitewater playground!

Where do you adventure when you are not working?
Usually, I head right back to the river whether it’s for a good surf session at the third drop at Big A, a quick Gorge/Crib lap, or an afternoon high water play run on the Kennebec.

What do you do in the off-season when you’re not guiding for Northern Outdoors?
Ski Patrol at Sugarloaf

Tell us about any certifications, special talents, guide awards.

When I’m not on the river or skiing, I also enjoy SCUBA diving, birding, and ceramics.

What rivers have you run outside of Maine?
A few of my favorites:
Lochsa River, Idaho
Colorado River, Arizona
Cheat River, West Virginia
Stranda River, Norway

Which Kennebec River Brewery beer is your top choice after a day on the river?
Kennebec Logger

  1. Gee, I have a picture of Christine rafting on the Ohiopyle when she was about 7 or 8. Maybe it doesn’t count because she didn’t have a paddle in her hand. She was loving it though, even back then. She was a pro by the time she was 10.

  2. We had our second trip with Christine as our guide this past week. We rode the Kennebec last year, and the Penobscot this year. We had an absolutely great time with Christine both times, and plan on coming back to do the Dead River next year with her. She’s a great guide, and incredibly knowledgeable about the rivers and surrounding area. Thanks again for a great experience!

    1. Awesome to hear! She is amazing and we’re lucky to have her on our team for sure! Dead River is great- you’ll have done the trifecta after that 🙂
