The Forks Area Snowmobile Trails Update- February 10th, 2026

snowmobile trails in Maine February 10 2026

What a day! It’s beautiful out there. Quick ride out ITS 87 south to the Pleasant Pond Trail, across Ron’s Trail, and back to Northern Outdoors on ITS 87 north. Beautiful views on 87 south towards the Bigelow Mountain Range. Trails in great shape – thin around Moore’s Bog and as you get close to Pleasant Pond. Majority on unplowed roads: flat and fast!

Head’s up that Kennebec River Trail is closed due to flooding near Pooler Ponds. We have it marked at Northern Outdoors before you cross route 201, and again at the entrance on the north end. Will keep you updated if anything changes.

Zach is back at it for the first video trail report of February, with overall great reviews! He notes that 95% of The Forks Area Trails Club system, which spans approximately 100 miles right around Northern Outdoors, is in great shape. There are thin spots- most notably Moore’s Bog area of ITS 87 and the powerline section if ITS 86- but coverage is there, and it’s generally pretty flat. Groomers have been out regularly, and it’s a great time to ride! This is a top local loop, heading out ITS 87 and to the Moxie Mountain Overlook Trail.

Grab your trailside cabin, and don’t forget to add on a sled rental if you don’t have one!

  1. Good morning. I was up there on Wednesday and had some great riding. Was curious on 86 west from the Bald mountain trail? It was posted no snowmobiles? We could not access the breakneck trail from that end? Thanks Chris

    1. Shoot- sorry we missed this, Chris! There was a period of time that ITS 86 had closures as we worked on a reroute (logging operation). We did wind up getting one established- but it wasn’t until Feb 9th or so. Hope you had a nice ride last winter and make it back in 2025!
